The Novasub Diver Monitoring System (DMS) is a self-contained depth monitoring, sensor monitoring, and dive logging system designed for professional diving operations. The system is currently available as an early production version. This means that the core functionality required for professional dive monitoring is already integrated, while additional features and improvements will be added through regular software updates.
The DMS operates through an integrated web-based dashboard, which can be accessed from a phone, tablet, or computer using a standard web browser. No additional software installation is required. Depending on the setup, the DMS can be accessed through a direct network connection, an existing network, or future Wi-Fi access point functionality.
The system is designed to support dive supervisors with real-time monitoring, structured dive preparation, event logging, data storage, and PDF reporting from one central interface.
The current version of the DMS provides the essential tools needed for dive monitoring and dive registration:
During a dive, the dashboard provides a clear overview of the dive in progress. Dive supervisors can monitor live values such as depth and connected sensor data, add relevant events, and follow the dive profile in real time. Events can be added using predefined labels or custom entries, allowing the log to match the actual operation.
After the dive, the recorded information can be used to generate a PDF dive report directly from the DMS.
The DMS dashboard is the main interface for managing, monitoring, and logging dive-related data. It is accessible through any device with a web browser connected to the same network as the DMS.
Before starting a dive, users can enter important dive details such as diver names, team information, project details, dive objectives, equipment, and expected conditions. This information is stored in the DMS database and included in the dive registration.
The dashboard also allows users to manage divers, teams, projects, and stored dive data. Its customizable layout makes it possible to adapt the monitoring screen to the needs of different operations.
The DMS includes a 3.5” touchscreen display for local monitoring and basic interaction with the system. The touchscreen provides a direct way to view important information at the unit itself.
The current touchscreen functionality is focused on local monitoring. Additional touchscreen features, including the full Prepare-to-Dive workflow, are planned for future software updates.
The DMS is housed in a durable plastic enclosure with sensor connections located at the back of the unit. It uses the same housing concept as the previous DDG2 system, making it a practical replacement for existing setups.
The integrated 50 Wh battery provides at least 6 hours of operation. The system also includes 8 GB of industrial-grade storage, which is sufficient for more than 10,000 hours of dive data.
The DMS will continue to receive regular software updates. These updates will add new features, improve usability, and resolve possible software issues. During the first year of release, updates are expected to be released frequently.
If the DMS is connected to a network with Internet access, it can automatically download updates and prepare them for installation. The update itself must be started manually, so the system will not update unexpectedly during a dive. Installing an update typically takes approximately 5 to 10 minutes.
Upcoming software updates are planned to include:
